By definition, the term “hosiery” denotes any leg wear or garments worn directly on the feet and legs. Oftentimes, hosiery garments are made by knitting methods. Today, hosiery can be used to denote anything worn over the feet and legs including stockings, tights, pantyhose, leggings, and leg warmers. Unfortunately, even though more and more women are discovering the beauty of hosiery garments, very few are well aware of how to choose the right one and how to take care of it.
- If you would be wearing your stockings on a regular basis, opt for those made from 15% lycra or spandex and try to keep away from sheer ones. Keep in mind that the latter will have a higher probability for runs.
- Make sure that you know your size. going for the wrong size could make you feel uncomfortable and might result to your stockings rolling down every now and then.
- Keep a good stock of stockings and pantyhose in different materials to suit your various clothes as well as the various events that you might be attending. Many women swear by keeping stockings and pantyhose inside the refrigerator.
- Take your time when putting on or taking off your hosiery garments in order to prevent any snags. When taking them off, make sure that you do not pull them off from the toes. Start at the other end and slowly roll them down using your palms.
- Should your stockings get a run, you can use a nail polish as a first-aid. However, this does not mean that you can be careless with your stockings. Keep in mind that stockings with nail polish are never sexy.
Til next time…flaunt on!
