Avoiding That Fashion Disaster

The Grammy’s may well be over but fashion disasters of every kind can actually happen in our everyday lives. Fortunately, with more and more people putting more weight to looking presentable, knowing what fashion pieces to avoid is as easy as logging online.

One of the fashion disasters that most people get into is wearing loosely fitting lingerie including panty lines that show. There are already a number of thongs and bikinis designed in such a way that they won’t show when you wire a sexy, skin-hugging dress.

Accessories are worn in order to highlight what you are wearing as well as give due notice to your other features. They should not be the “main character”. Over-accessorizing can be quite hurting on other people’s eyes.

Another fashion disaster that most women make is wearing clothes and accessories that are not of complementing colors. You should also make sure that the color of your clothes complement your skin tone and is right for your body type. Plus-size people who would like to exude a slimmer figure should avoid bright colors while those who are on the thin-side should wear clothes that have prints.

Match your make up to the time of the day. Too heavy make up during daytime is a no-no unless you would like to look like a clown.

So you see, avoiding fashion disasters is not that hard!

Okay, this is way unconventional. But hey, whatever floats her boat.

Jennifer Love Hewitt has certainly brought on a new way to surprising your special someone. It’s called Vagazzling (and is akin to be-dazzling) and involves putting Swarovski crystals on your lady down there. There are a number of spas that already offer this kind of service should you ant to try it out. However, if you think this is too much for you, here are some of our suggestions:

  • If you want to really “vagazzle”, you might want to try sheer panties that already have crystals in them. Same sexy factor minus the “ouch”
  • If you are just after the sexy and very hot look without the bling, why not go for thongs that have a ribbon tie back.
  • A string chord thong is also a hot number provided you do not forget to shave down there. And while you’re at it, why not use those Swarovski crystals as a design for the front part of your thong?
  • For a flirty yet fun factor, put on a lace ruffle rhumba brief. It may not be a very hot piece but it sure is flirty.

Panties! Panties! Panties!

When panties first came into being, their original use were to minimize the feminine features of a woman. They were the brainchild of Elizabeth Miller but was later on redesigned by Amelia Bloomer during the 1850’s.  As opposed to their current form, the first panties, known as “bloomers”, actually looked like baggy pants as they ended at the ankles. It was during the post-war era that the panties became shorter, the primary reason for this being that women wanted more “freedom” when dancing.

Today, panties come in different size, shape and form. Here’s a short guide on the different types of panties:

Thongsoriginally called V-back, they are like tanga but without the full rear coverage. Just like the tanga, they have narrow strips for waistband and usually ride high on the hips.

Tanga – these pantes provide full coverage both in the rear and in front. However, the side coverage comes in the form of strips.

G-Strings – known as “butt floss”, this lingerie make it possible for women to wear tight pants without having to worry about visible panty lines. They are best suited for women who have smaller butts.

Boy Shorts or Boy Panties – also known as boyleg briefs, they are panties that go all the way down the hips offering full coverage of the rear. They could either be low-rise or high-rise.

Bikinis – usually worn at the hips, the side fabric of this panty is narrower. Bikinis are the most common type of panty women usually have

So now you know your panty.

The Rise Of The Bikini

Yes, even I can’t believe that it’s already Fall. It seems like, just the other day, we’re in the middle of summer. Okay, I’m exaggerating a bit here.

As a last salute to our friendly bikinis, we go down memory lane and relive once more the rise of the bikinis.

The first bikini ever saw light in 1946. It was named after the Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Although the idea of bikinis have been around since 1600 BC, it was Jacques Heim and Louis Reard who pushed bikini into the spotlight.

Heim who was a French couturier designer, made a small bathing suit which he named as “atome,” the French word for “atom”. When word got out, Reard, who was a Mechanical Engineer, came out with his own version and marketed it as being “smaller than the smallest bathing suit in the world.” It was Reard who came up with the name “bikini”.

The provocativeness of the bikini shocked many people in France, earning reactions that were comparable to the shock that could be felt everytime an atomic bomb exploded in the Bikini Atoll.

By 1960, the popularity of the Bikini has reached America. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Nowadays, bikinis come in various shapes and designs. You have monokinis, tankinis, tongs, g-strings, and even halter tops.

Bikini Disasters

You know why not so many people are keen on wearing bikinis? Well, most of them feel that they don’t have the body for it. Some have developed a strange phobia of bikinis after they have witnessed a number of bikini disasters. So here are some tips on how to avoid any bikini disaster:

  1. Avoid wearing see-throughs. As your bikini gets wet, see -throughs might show more than what they are supposed to. If you have a really hot see-through, try wearing underneath one of those invisible bras.
  2. Make sure that your bikini fits your body just right. Tie everything (or snap on buttons) securely. One of the most common bikini disaster is strings and buttons becoming undone.
  3. Nowadays, we have different bikini designs. Go for the one that suits your body. You might have the guts to wear a two-piece but if you’d look better in a one-piece or in a tankini then go for it.

  5. Keep in mind that a wet suit tends to be heavier than a dry one, and because of gravity, can be fall off from your body with too much jumping and running around. Make sure that before you do any activity, you adjust your top and bikini bottom.
  6. Shave! A bikini can only look sexy if there no wayward “hairs”, otherwise you’d only end up as a laughing stock.

Bikini disasters and wardrobe malfunction is something that can be avoided so you need not worry so much about it.

The Bikini Files

knit stripe bikini topIf there’s one thing that a girl worries about every single year, it’s bikinis! Hey, it’s a shame to wear the same old bikini every single year (that’s why you should get more than a pair!). So how do you make sure that you find the right fit?

  1. If you’re going for a tankini, make sure that it is tight enough to lie flat on your body without causing bulges to appear.
  2. If you have smaller busts, try to go for bandeau tops as well as triangle bikini tops. This will create an illusion of cleavage making it appear that you have bigger bust.
  3. Make sure that your bottoms feature the right leg opening size as well as waistband size. You wouldn’t want the whole word to see your…uhm…privates. It should, however, allow you to move about easily.
  4. If you have a pear-shaped body (fuller bottoms and thighs), boylegs and skirt overlays would be a great idea to create a slimming effect thus making your bottom proportion to the top part of your body.mesh polk dots bikini

As long as you are confident with your body, you’d be fine with whatever bikini you’re wearing. If you’ve got it, flaunt it!
